PhotoEditor is one of the first photo editors on the App Store. It was created in 2009, just a year after the inception of the App Store.
The idea stems from my interest in photography at the time, when I was 15 years old. I couldn’t find a good substitute for Photoshop on the iPhone, so I decided to create one.
PhotoEditor is bundled with all the color adjustment features in Photoshop, like Brightness, Contrast, Color Balance, Levels, Photo Filter, etc.
I had so much free time back then that I decided to put in weeks to figure out the underlying algorithms that Photoshop was using, just so that I can replicate those effects precisely to match the ones in Photoshop.
In fact, they got so close that it’s basically indistinguishable from the effects in Photoshop CS3.
Over time, more features were added. And, PhotoEditor became one of the top 100 apps in the Photo & Video category and stayed there for a couple of years.
