The idea stems from 3 problems that I’ve noticed when taking pictures, namely:

  1. Blurry photos, especially at night
  2. Missed moments (shutter lag, didn’t capture quick enough, etc.)
  3. Getting perfect shot with people (eyes closed, unready pose, someone moved, etc.)

What Capture does is start taking pictures before you even press the shutter button. It will keep the 4 most recent photos along with the picture you actually took.

It then allows you to go back in time to retrieve the best photo, be it the sharpest, the best moment or whatever you deem as a great photo.

Capture had then morphed into a new app called Anti-Blur Camera, which takes what I’ve developed a step further. Anti-Blur Camera still allows you to retrieve photo in the past, the difference is it will automatically pick the sharpest photo for you immediately after taking a picture.

A couple years later, Apple announced Live Photo, which is kind of similar to what Capture did, where it’ll take pictures before and after you press the shutter button. The dissimilarity is that Live Photo will create a short animated video with all the frames captured.
